Travel down the Danube River, through Eastern Europe and the Balkans into the Black Sea. Drift through the Bosphorus, across the Mediterranean and up the Nile River all the way up to the Ethiopian Highlands. All along the way your boat is loaded with a lively crew of new and old friends, the kitchen is popping out all the local flavors, and there is this band rocking all night dance parties and sunrise scernades, Axon Orkestra.
Axon orkestra is a sonic boom of ripping grooves punctuated by soaring chamber music. Creative forces collide in this eclectic off-the-beaten-path musical mix, merging urban and village music styles, percussive strings and irresistible rhythms.
Its members have called nearly a dozen countries home and their global roots resonate in every note. Bridging decades of these individual musical journeys in the Easts of Europe, the Mediterranean, and Africa, it was through the California music camp scene and Burning Man that these journeys converged and Axon Orkestra was formed.
An axon is the long tail of a nerve cell that sends electrical impulses, and just a single axon, with all its branches taken together, can generate thousands of synaptic connections. Taking the name Axon Orkestra honors the vast network of communities that forged them as individuals, brought them together, and now grows with them.
